Open from 10am to 3pm - entry free
Our annual Open Day is coming up again soon!
As usual we will have a great range of Australian native plants for sale from probably 6 growers
We will also have Cittaslow , Nossa (native orchid assoc), the Butterfly Conservancy, and the Australian Plant Society supplying information and doing soil testing
There will be an all day BBQ and tea/coffee and cakes available
As usual entry is free . We are doing another round of labeling so a gold coin donation is always appreciated
The reserve is looking excellent - the flowers are really responding to all the rain
Look forward to seeing you there!
A new picnic setting, donated by the Victor Harbor Council has been installed
A new picnic setting has been installed in a lovely shady , quiet area on the Northern boundary and new plantings are growing well around it
New toilet was been installed in February and the area landscaped around it.
Another picnic setting has been installed, also donated by the council, on the Nangawooka Lane side under some of the original plantings with a paved area underneath.
We have been donated a number of timbers from the Old Causeway that lead to Granite Island
There will be 2 feature constructions built in the next few months.
We will keep you posted
In the last 2 years a new large shed has been built, purchased from funds raised by the Friends, and erected with ‘in kind’ help from the Victor Harbor Council.
Bunnings donated a rainwater tank and Council prepped the site, provided pavers and rock and paid for the erection. Volunteers did the rest, including retaining walls, paving and landscaping.
More stone edging has been added around the reserve
Labelling has been redone, irrigation upgraded
There are 2 newly planted garden beds and there is also new feature walling in the scented garden and around the gazebo. The stone was donated by the Rumbelow family, sourced from their old cottage which once stood by the now Yilki store. We held a ceremony with descendants of the Rumbelow family to commemorate the placing of a plaque on the donated stone in 2017.
